#150: Taking Leadership as a Classroom Teacher

Adva

In today's episode,I decided to speak from a leadership lens but one that is more geared toward teachers being leaders in the classroom. If you don't already know this... teachers ARE leaders whether or not they’re willing to see it for themselves. It’s something I used to preach about but want to revisit the topic this week. Here’s what we’ll cover:

  • What we’re taught versus what it means to be a leader in the classroom
  • How you can start to take a leadership role in your classroom
  • How mentorship can help you become more of a leader rather than a manager

Reflective questions discussed in the episode:

  • What have I done so far that’s helped me build relationships with my students’ families?
  • What have I done that isn’t really working to build relationships?
  • How can I do better in communicating to parents regarding their children, what’s happening in the classroom, and having them take a more active role in their child’s learning?
